The Basque Country
is more gratifying for the visitor than the average tourist
destination. Diverse in its uniqueness, it is an excellent
opportunity to get to know one of the oldest living cultures
in Europe.
The Basques are a dynamic and vital people capable of
opening their doors to innovation, while moving steadily
into the 21st century from the solid roots of their tradition,
ideally represented by a living symbol: the Tree of Gernika. |
|
 |
| It is known
that Basque has been spoken by these people since around
6,000 BC. The Basques call themselves "Euskaldunak"
(those who speak Basque [Euskera]) and the country "Euskalerria",
i.e. Basque speaking country. |

 |
 |
| A peculiar way
of doing things, based on a highly particular vision of
the world, and a willingness to accept new influences
combine to make the Basque Country a place where you move
through centuries and scenery with great ease, encountering
the flavour of the true experience of travelling at every
step. |
