Day
1
The group will be received
at Loiu Airport and driven to the hotel.
They will be welcomed with an aurresku,
the traditional Basque dance to honour distinguished
visitors.
Audiovisual presentation and performance of Basque
music and dances.
Welcoming presents.
The group will be offered a panoramic view of Bilbao.
Lunch at a restaurant with views over Bilbao and
the Guggenheim Museum.
Welcome at the Guggenheim Museum.
Guided visit.
Souvenir of their visit. Welcome dinner at selected
restaurant.
Day 2
Visit to a txakoli (a Basque wine) winery in Getaria,
located on the coast, where a sampling of the wine
and other local produce will take place.
Visit to Getaria.
Panoramic view of the city of San Sebastian and
walk through the Old part.
Lunch at a Gastronomic Society to the accompaniment
of an Ochote
(male choir).
Free time in Bilbao.
Dinner at selected restaurant.
Day 3
Visit to a wine museum.
Visit to winery in La Rioja with sampling of the
different wines: Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reserva.
Lunch based on local cuisine at winery.
Dinner at the Gran Casino Nervion in Bilbao.
Evening at the Casino.
Day 4
Visit to Gernika in the heart of the Urdaibai Biosphere
Reserve.
Introduction to Jai-alai (Basque ball game with
basket) and Exhibition
of rural sports and music.
Lunch at a traditional Basque baserri or farmhouse.
Jai Alai, to watch the jai-alai match.
